family day festivities
Today we ended up in the city for lunch at Manny's and a tour of Soldier Field. Manny's is a long time institution in the city of Chicago - opened up in 1942 as a cafeteria style restaurant and serves the biggest corned beef and pastrami sandwiches with a potato pancake on the side
The tour guide at Soldier Field was a girl in her early 20's -- and you know how enthusiastic girls of that age can be about the history of Football Stadiums. Nevertheless, it was interesting to get to see all the military medals they embedded into the concrete in the 2003 remodel -- and we did get to make it into the locker rooms as well as the private suites. The highlight of the tour was actually standing on the field.
All the boys: From left to right thats Dan (Dougs Brother in Law), Finn, Jack, Brant, Leo (Doug's brother in law), Doug, Glenn (Doug's Dad).
After the tour, we headed out to the playground to run off a little energy - which basically meant Doug and I playing with Brant and Jack while the adults sat down to rest their feet (and Grandma got to feed Finn). Doug was either a monkey in his past life or he hasn't quite grown up yet:
And a cute picture of the boys:
And finally...one more. All of us at Soldier Field.
Don't ask which finger Doug's dad is holding up.
