on why chase is run by a bunch of idiots...
the thing I hate about technology (and specifically username and password technology) is that there is no standard for username and password requirements. My life would be a bunch easier if every site made you do a 6-12 character password with letters and characters. I have been a customer of Washington Mutual since I moved to Chicago and I really have not looked forward to changing to Chase. Now I know why. Back in April, Chase, acting as Washington Mutual, asked me to change my username and password. All fine, except my username now must be 8 to 32 characters long, contain a letter, a number, can't be part of my pin or password. Typically speaking, my username is always alicia.suarez. If it doesnt accept characters, its just aliciasuarez. Easy to remember, and then I encrypt my password because I am geeky like that.
So I went to login to my account today after changing my username, and wouldnt you know...I have no idea what my username is. I dont use numbers. And of course, there is no automated form to remember my username. I can however, put in what I think is my username, along with my SSN, Birthdate, Blood type and favorite type of fruit fly, and they will tell me if Im right and send me a temporary password. Its really not my password I'm having issue with...although they did screw me over again and tell me to choose a DIFFERENT password than my current WaMu password even though it did meet all the criteria. So now my password is disabled, and I must wait for Chase to email me with my password, even though I only forgot my username. The email comes, I get my temporary password, and it asks me to change the password. I try to, but Chase will not allow me to change it to any password I've ever used with Washington Mutual. Now I change my password every 6 weeks or so, and I have a good 5-8 passwords that I rotate to...so the fact that I cant use ANY of these passwords is a real kick in the balls. And I know in a month from now whenever my cookies get cleared, I'm going to the same issue of trying to remember what my username and then requesitng my temporary password only to be told I cant use any password I've ever used.
P.S. I tried changing my username to username123 and someone beat me to the punch. They suck too.
